The establishment of the Joint Innovation Center marks the launch of data-driven AI innovation collaboration between Guangdong and Hong Kong, as well as a critical step in building AI-empowered data infrastructure systems for scientific research. It will inject new momentum into the integrated development of technological and industrial innovation in data technology and artificial intelligence within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

According to reports, the Joint Innovation Center will focus on technological and scientific research breakthroughs in "data" and "intelligent governance", implementing projects in scientific research, industry-academia-research transformation, and international collaboration. It aims to create dedicated data infrastructure for AI innovation applications, establish technical governance mechanisms for AI-enabled scientific research and technological innovation, and foster a secure, trusted, and internationalized environment for data and AI.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and the CNGI Engineering Center will pool their resources to advance the construction of an AI innovation cluster in Guangdong and Hong Kong. The center strives to promote the practical application of major scientific achievements in data technology and intelligent governance, enabling the co-construction, sharing, and utilization of innovation resources. This initiative will empower the development of the Greater Bay Area and the global AI and data industries.
